Jussi Fredriksson Trio: Archipelago Sea Tales
Jussi Fredriksson trio‘s stylish and sensitive Nordic jazz will be heard in the festival’s Friday program. The trio consisting of grand piano, drums and double bass will play in Korpo Gården’s salon at 19:00.
Internationally acclaimed Jussi Fredriksson Trio’s project Archipelago Sea Tales tells beautiful, yet rugged stories about the most wonderful Archipelago in the World. During the pandemic, pianist Jussi Fredriksson composed a whole new program, for which the composer drew inspiration from touching themes, all the way from archipelago romance to the natural disasters.
The opinionated album’s songs originated in Aspö, Nauvo, Brännskär, Gullkrona and other wonderful islands of the outer Archipelago. Fredriksson also composed a song, Korpo Waltz, that is dedicated to the pianist’s second home, a summer cottage in Korpo, and is also the theme song of the Archipelago Sea Jazz festival series. In addition to the moody ballads, the repertoire also includes some flamboyant styles.
Bassist Jori Huhtala and drummer Mika Kallio, together with Fredriksson, have formed the trio for over 10 years. The group has also toured internationally and has been polished to its very best over the years. The trio has become an important channel for Fredriksson’s self-expression.
Achipelago music is now in a whole new outfit.
