Nina Mya: My Gospel Heart

The true home of gospel music is a church. On Friday singer Nina Mya opens her soul and her favorite gospel songs in the performance called My Gospel Heart. The soulful performance in Korppoo’s medieval church starts at 17:00.

My Gospel Heart is a project that brings Nina Mya’s love for gospel and gospel-influenced music close to the audience in an intimate way. In the band performs pianist Henri Mäntylä and saxophone virtuoso Joonatan Rautio, who is also known as a skilled gospel pianist. Through this project the singer wants to deepen her relationship with her incluences before jazz and also challenge and search for her voice technique. 

The small group will perform a program including negro spirituals, original songs and covers by Ray Charles, Etta James etc. in an intimate, touching and stripped-down way – without forgetting jazz influences and improvisation.
