Teemu Viinikainen

Teemu Viinikainen is one of Finland’s most renowned and respected jazz guitarists.
Expressiveness, swing and virtuosity are essential elements of his playing, yet what
stands out most to the listener is his strong presence, sensitivity and the beautiful
tone of his guitar. His constant desire to evolve makes him an artist firmly rooted in
the present, while always looking towards the future.
Viinikainen has been honoured with the Finnish Jazz Federation’s Yrjö Award, the
Sony Jazz Award and an Emma Award nomination. Over the years, he has
performed with numerous top ensembles, including those led by Jukka Perko, Eero
Koivistoinen and Jukkis Uotila, and has collaborated with international jazz greats
such as Joe Lovano, Tim Hagans and Randy Brecker.
He released his first solo guitar album, Songs of Silence, in November 2022. The
album features calm and melodic solo arrangements of works by renowned
composers such as Thelonious Monk and Charles Mingus.
