This year, the walls and audience of the beautiful and atmospheric stone church of
Korpo are sure to witness something magical when Verneri Pohjola and Tuomo
Prättälä perform together at Korpo Sea Jazz.
Verneri Pohjola is one of Europe’s most acclaimed jazz trumpeters and composers.
His playing combines a warm, clear tone with a bold and distinctive musical
language. The internationally praised album Bullhorn (2015) earned him an Emma
Award, and in 2017 he received the prestigious Yrjö Award. His work represents a
personal and open-minded strand of European jazz. Kaija Saariaho composed her last work, HUSH (2023), for Pohjola and a symphony orchestra.
Tuomo Prättälä is a keyboardist, singer and composer known for his strong, soulful
and rhythmically rich expression. Moving effortlessly between jazz, soul, funk and
pop, he is regarded as one of Finland’s most respected keyboard players.
Prättälä has performed in several notable ensembles, including Ilmiliekki Quartet and
Q-Continuum, collaborated extensively with leading Finnish musicians, and released
his own music.
Their latest collaborative project is the album Tuomo &Markus and Verneri Pohjola: Music for Roads (2025)
