Herd

The trio Herd, led by vibraphonist Panu Savolainen, fascinates again with its individual combo-sound and a new simple and beautiful repertoire. The trio, consisting of Mikko Pellinen on ukulele-bass and Tuomas Timonen on drums in addition to the leader Savolainen, digs deeper and deeper into the sensitivity and intensity of acoustic music, inviting the audience into adventure and presence, unattainable for artificial intelligence. The group, that swears by the magic of live music, gave out its third album in January 2025. The album, Livevol.2 has been recorded in front of a small live studio audience, literally as live music. Herd was established in 2009 and it rose quickly to among the most respected jazz-bands in this country. During its career Herd has, among other things, won the European Jazz Competition, served as the house band at Pori Jazz Festival and toured a.o. in Mexico, Australia and Ethiopia in addition to Finland.
