Kristoffersson-Wretling Duo, Feat: Matias Långbacka

This summer, the beautiful and intimate chapel of Aspö will host a meeting of musical
traditions from Sweden’s Västmanland and the Turku archipelago, as Turku-born
trumpeter Matias Långbacka performs together with the Swedish Kristoffersson-
Wretling Duo.

Saxophonist Ida Wretling and double bassist Jenny Kristoffersson have
explored the musical cultural heritage of their home region, Västmanland, creating a
repertoire based on both traditional folk fiddlers and more recent composers from the
area. With Matias Långbacka’s expressive trumpet added to the equation, audiences can
expect innovative improvisation, soulful swing, and collaboration that transcends
national borders.
Please note: Unfortunately, we are unable to arrange a charter boat to the Aspö
concert this year, so visitors will need to organize their own transportation.
